Application of heat transfer printing on glass wine bottle
The heat transfer film is used to print the pattern and glue on the heat-resistant film. The pattern (ink layer) and glue layer are
printed and then adhered to the glass bottle by heating and pressure. This process is mostly used on plastic and paper, and less
used on glass bottles.
Process flow: 1.design ; 2. Print on the heat transfer film; 3. Heat transfer printing; 4. Baking.
The heat transfer film is generally divided into 5 layers. The PET film on the surface is used as the carrier, and the separation layer
is suitable for falling off when heated. Protective layer protects ink. While the ink layer is pattern printing, and the adhesive layer is
adhesion layer.
In the film printing stage, multi-color patterns can be printed at one time. When transferring, the existing patterns can be
transferred at one time onto the glass bottle. Compared with the tedious complex silkscreen printing, it can greatly shorten
the work of printing case and reduce material loss caused by printing errors. At present, the labor cost is rising, and customers
are high demanding for accurate overprinting accuracy. So in multi-color manuscript, heat transfer printing advantages are obvious.
In addition, in the film printing stage, CMYK printing is usually used, and spot color printing can also be carried out according to
customer requirements. The heat transfer effect, is lifelike and high color restoration and can do gradient color. Due to the
heating and baking of the image, the color of the finished image of heat transfer printing is more solid and not be easy to fade
comparing with water base printing. It has good properties such as corrosion resistance, aging resistance, wear resistance,
high temperature resistance.
Compared with water transfer printing and silk screen printing, heat transfer printing has obvious advantages in glass bottle processing.
Comparison between heat transfer printing and other process
In general, compared with traditional water transfer printing and silk screen printing, the advantages of heat transfer printing are:
less labor consumption, high degree of automation, fast, accurate color registration, high yield rate and less environmental pollution.
However, the disadvantage of heat transfer printing is that it requires high regularity of the substrate and needs to be carried out in a
more regular position. Square bottle and cylindrical bottle processing is very advantageous. Special shaped bottles need to be analyzed
then can get the processing place. In addition to ordinary toner inks, many new types of pearlescent ink films and mirror ink heat transfer
films were developed, the transfer film with hot stamping. Looking forward to the future, heat transfer printing on glass bottles will
be more widely used.
